ABOUT MICHAEL SCHOELLER DESIGN

A design is an unspoken language; It’s a story about the owner. It can make an entrance, pull back to a more intimate and reflective space, or be completely quiet from beginning to end.

Our homes and environments tell a story about who we are and what’s important to us. The design story we develop for a new project always starts with a feeling. Deeper than wanting to feel naturally comfortable in the spaces we live, a room can delight, nurture, makes us smile and calm us down.

I believe a place that is loved and cared about by its owner, designers, and craftsmen, regardless of its grandeur or humbleness, is truly a work of beauty.
— Michael Schoeller

The goal is to touch people’s lives in a way that lasts. Our design approach starts with respect to context of the site. Function, durability and comfort are key components often expressed through finishes and materials and include bespoke furnishings and lighting, vintage items, found objects, gathered and edited for a warm, enduring design language.

Our design studio is mindful of its impact on the world. We strive to source earth friendly, all natural, non-toxic materials. We are passionate about working with local craftsmen and support fair trade practices.

Our founder, Michael Schoeller, began his career in luxury fashion after studying at Parsons School of Design. He developed his own women’s wear collection, which sold in top stores such as Bergdorf Goodman and Barney’s New York. Michael expanded his work to include interior design, luxury furniture, and residential landscape design. In 2004 Michael opened his design studio, Michael Schoeller Design.
